Local Missions

For Edgewood Baptist Church, reaching the world for Christ starts right outside our door. We don’t have to go far to find the lost - on a given Sunday morning, only 15 percent of adults in our city attend a Bible believing church. We recognize we must go to them and tell of the love of Christ in both word and deed with a creative outreach of ministry evangelism.

Edgewood is involved and supports several other ministries in the Columbus area. Please visit our Partners page to learn more about ministry opportunities outside of EBC.

Family Advocacy Ministry (FAM)

As a Clement Care partner church, EBC has developed a Family Advocacy Ministry (FAM) with the purpose of supporting, strengthening, and restoring families within our community.  EBC’s FAM seeks to do this by offering the following two services: Care Communities for biological/kinship families in need and Families Count Parenting Classes.

Care Communities consist of 4-5 individuals/couples who provide support for one family on a weekly, rotating schedule. Supports provided by Care Communities may include a weekly home cooked meal, weekly groceries, occasional help with childcare, mentoring, and prayer.

The Families Count Parenting Class is a biblically-based, 6-week court approved parenting class. These classes are often court-mandated for parents who are involved with child welfare and are working to get custody of their children OR they may be required for parents who are at risk of losing custody of their children. Families Count equips church members to minister to these at-risk families, and provides a platform to reach them. Volunteers are needed for various roles to include childcare workers, parent mentors, and transporters.  Through these classes the Gospel is presented, parents are taught practical skills for raising their children, and families are strengthened. EBC will host one class per year.

Samaritan’s Purse

They offer opportunities for volunteers to partner in sharing the love of Jesus by assisting homeowners who have been adversely impacted by hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. No experience required. You simply need to be willing to help those in need. Most of the logistics are cared for by Samaritan’s Purse once you arrive onsite. Interested in learning more?  Contact Bobby Moody at 706-464-4829.

Feed the Hungry
Each month we partner with the Columbus M2540 ministry to cook, package, and deliver 120 meals to the homeless in five different locations. Our need is for cooks who can prepare a large dish, also those who can help package up meal boxes and those who can help deliver the meals. It is truly a blessing to feed the homeless, some who may not have eaten in several days. And, also to share the gospel and demonstrate the great love of Jesus. Call the church office, (706) 561-7954, for more details.
